“All the virgins may now rest in peace. The grading couch has met its timely demise. The pheremones released into the air will bring about the spring sunshine and chirping birds. Fear not, if you find yourself enjoying the lascivious dreams of Pan, his essence has been liberated.”
Steve Smith has shed his former career as a professor of ceramics at Defiance College to become a full time potter and gallery owner at the lake. Most days you can find him puttering around the studio, working on his lake house, or prepping for an upcoming show.
The new, big gas kiln has been getting loads of use this autumn and will continue to heat things up over the next few months as Steve prepares for a feature show at The Orchard Gallery. A focus on large, outdoor sculptural pieces will be occupying his time in the studio this winter as well as preparing the classroom in the back building so he can offer a variety of workshops beginning in the spring and summer of 2015.
Stop by the studio now through Christmas to see the assortment of new Bird Feeders, Bird Houses, Bird Baths, Mortars & Pestles, Butter dishes, Brie Bakers, New Mugs, Large bowls, Pitchers and more. There is something for every price range beginning at $6. The new gas kiln is helping to create juicy, luscious new surfaces you’re sure to love.
Looking for a little something special for the Lake House? Custom Lake Mugs are available. Some are in stock, the remainder available on request for $16-$25.
We’ll see you soon.
